Slack.

A simple Slack workflow I built in my last in-house job was game changer.

I was tasked with reviewing marketing materials for compliance with our legal policies. The marketing team would submit several pieces of marketing a day in a marketing <> legal Slack channel. Making the legal judgement took seconds but sifting through requests getting buried in conversations, and typing responses was tedious. So in one hour I built a simple workflow using Slack’s workflow feature – requests are entered into a simple intake form that sends a request to legal in a dedicated channel and allows for an easy approve / reject click response, all of which is logged in a Google Doc audit chain. Getting the data in a neat and structured way saved me and the marketing team a lot of time and was a better experience for all. That was a year ago, when agentic AI wasn’t quite what it is today.

This week I rebuilt that workflow integrated with AI (if you have a Slack business account tier you can use Slack’s own native AI or connect another AI through API). The hardest choice is prompting the playbook and deciding when to require human approval and when to approve automatically.
You don’t need a fancy legal-AI agent tool with a Slack integration to review routine matters in Slack in seconds. Slack workflows are a surprisingly powerful tool in the legal toolkit.

Comment and I’ll send you step-by-step instructions on how I did it.
